For the adventurously minded – if you want to buy an internal bluetooth module off the internet that is llaptop with your laptop and fit it, then it will work just fine with acer-wmi. It is not responsible for the wireless LED – once the radio is enabled, this is down to the wireless driver for your card.

So, clearly something is wrong with acer-wmi. Maybe it should not be loaded with this laptop version, dxtras it has a bug in it.
